Physics E-learning Week 4:  April 6th – April 9th

We will be wrapping up Chapter 13 this week by taking a test and then starting Chapter 14 (Electrostatics). I have put everything you will need in Schoology. Here are the assignments that I will be grading this week:

1. Chapter 13 Test
-
This is our final assignment for Chapter 13 and the first test of 4th quarter. The test will contain the usual mix of multiple choice and short answer math.
- You need to make sure that you are prepared and that you have studied. The test will be timed, so please make sure you have an open chunk of time to work free of distractions. Tests will not pause and cannot be resumed once started.
- The test will be open and available starting sometime Monday afternoon (I am not quite done with it). You must take the test by Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Schoology seemed to have more issues in the morning last week, so make sure you plan accordingly if the issues continue this week.
- Chapter 13 Study guides are still optional, but to receive extra credit they must be submitted in Schoology before the test is taken. No late study guides will be accepted.

2. Review Questions 14.1
-
These are the questions that go along with each section of notes. These ARE NOT OPTIONAL and must be submitted by each student. Use your notes to answer the questions.
- I will open the questions so that you can see the answers after all students have submitted their work or by the end of the week at that latest.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or issues and I will help in any way that I can. If you’d like to schedule a Zoom session please let me know and I will line something up right away. Have a wonderful week!

Physics E-learning Week 3:  March 30th – April 3rd

I hope you are all ready to begin our third week of E-learning! I have put together a plan which I explain below. We will be finishing our journey through Chapter 13 (light and its properties) this week and will take a test early next week. I have put everything you will need in Schoology. Here are the assignments that I will be grading this week:

1. Review Questions 13.3
-
These are the questions that go along with each section of notes. These ARE NOT OPTIONAL and must be submitted by each student. Use your notes to answer the questions.
- I will open the questions so that you can see the answers after all students have submitted their work or by the end of the week at that latest.

2. Snell’s Law Lab
-
This will be used as one of this chapter’s laboratory activities. The first part gives the directions for collecting data, which should be read to understand what is going on in the lab. The data has been collected for you and is found in a separate image in Schoology. You are required to transfer the data into your lab’s data table.
- There is a graphing portion. I converted the Google Doc graph image into a Google drawing, which means you can double click the image to add point, labels, ect. If it would be easier for you, you could also insert a Google chart or draw the graph by hand and insert an image.

3. Refraction Math Example Problems and Homework Problems
-
These will function much like they have all year. You must complete the Example problems and get the answers correct in order to move on to the homework problems.
- I will do my best to monitor for example answers that are being graded incorrectly, but please email me if you are having any trouble.

Again, please let me know if you have any questions or issues and I will help in any way that I can. Right now, I have the test set to be taken by 4:00 pm on April 7th. Have a wonderful week!

E-Learning Week 2: 03/23 - 03/27

I hope you are all happy and healthy as we begin our second week of E-learning. I have put together a plan for this week which I explain below. We will be working through Chapter 13 (light and its properties) over the next two weeks and I have put everything you will need in Schoology. Here are the assignments that I will be grading this week:
1. Review Questions 13.1 and Review Questions 13.2
- These are the questions that go along with each section of notes. These ARE NOT OPTIONAL and must be submitted by each student. They will be graded. Use your notes to answer the questions.
- I will open the questions so that you can see the answers after all students have submitted their work or by the end of the week at that latest.
2. Reflection Math Example Problems and Homework Problems
- These will function much like they have all year. You must complete the Example problems and get the answers correct in order to move on to the homework problems. Homework problems must then be submitted for grading.
- I will do my best to monitor for example answers that are being graded incorrectly, but please email me if you are having any trouble. I will answer emails fairly quickly during the week between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, but may be slower to answer during the evenings.
3. Color Mixing WebQuest
- This will be used as one of this chapter’s laboratory activities. Follow the directions and use your notes to answer the questions.
- One portion of the assignment uses a Ck12 website, so you may need to log into the Ck12 system using your google account.

Again, please let me know if you have any questions or issues and I will help in any way that I can. The remaining items in Schoology will not be assigned until next week, but feel free to work ahead as time and energy allows. Have a wonderful week!

E-Learning Week 1: 03/16 - 03/19

I hope that you are getting settled in for our E-learning journey and I know many of you have been curious about my plan for Physics. I apologize for the delay, but Physics has presented me with the biggest challenge for how to move forward and I think that I have finalized my plan which I have outlined below.

1. Students must submit their completed “Let it Ring” lab paper in Schoology by Tuesday at 4:00 pm. I have created an assignment for you to upload your Lab to. Whether you use a scanner or photos please make sure submitted images are clear and show the entire lab.

2. Students will be required to take their “Chapter 12 Test” by Wednesday at 4:00 pm. The test is not currently open and I hope to have it ready starting tomorrow morning. The test will contain the usual mix of multiple choice and short answer math. The biggest change is that the test will be timed. I plan on setting the timer somewhere between 40 and 50 min, so make sure you plan to have an uninterrupted chunk of time to complete this test before Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Tests will not pause and cannot be resumed once started. As part of the test being completed outside of my classroom, I have closed all of the Chapter 12 quizzes and review questions.

3. Study guides are still optional but must have a submission time that is before the time the test was opened. No late submissions will be accepted.

At this time I am not planning on starting into Chapter 13 until next week, so no additional assignments will be added. I have created email groups and hope to communicate any pertinent information through email. I hope you all have a wonderful week of E-learning and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
